  • Reactivate ID or use Welcome Back program?

I am returning the end of May. It's been about 6 months. I hear that some people can reactivate their ID's even after the 3 months. Should I try this first, or should I just use the Welcome Back program? Do either give a month free before the monthly payments are due? Is one for reliable than the other for guaranteeing the same character with weapons and items and everything?

If you qualify for Type A of the Welcome Back Program, you get the first 30 days free. But I think it requires you to get another copy of the game (which would be really hard for the PS2, I'd imagine). With Type B, you have to start paying immediately.

If you have to buy another copy, it's not hard for PS2, since if you still have the discs, all you need is registration codes, which can be from the PC or Xbox 360 versions.

I thought if you used pc or 360 reg codes, that you ended up having to use the same platform's codes for every future expansion. So if he used pc reg codes for the base game, then He'd have to buy two version from then on. One to put on the ps2, and another pc version to get the codes from.

Complete myth. Registration codes are only locked to region, not platform. Several of my linkshell members started on PS2 and later moved to PC, and they had no trouble registering PC expansions to the accounts they created with PS2 registration codes. One is even on 360 now, and only used the 360 Aht Urhgan code to add the expansion to the account they created on their PC.

Also, on many FFXI message boards, I deal with a lot of people wanting to start playing on PS2, but they can only find used HDDs, so I tell them to buy the PC Vanadiel Collection for the $20 just for the registration codes, and I have never heard a complaint that it didn't work for them to use the codes on their PS2 to make an account.

I think I am type B. Around October I cancelled the content ID. I didn't delete any characters because I knew I was definetly coming back. I think that qualifies as type B for the campaign.
