  • If you run into a situation where there is no one to group with at your level?

I've been wondering something as I sit here looking at my copy of FFXI Online. Say I come back to the game, knowing full well it will take a lot of time to level. Honestly as long as I'm able to get the subjob quest complete and I"m able to get past the that area the quest has to be done I'd be happy to be honest.

Now, lets say I come back (play in primetime North America timeslots, and there is no one to group with at these lower levels due to people being higher or simply wanting people with subjobs only and are ignoring those that don't have them or haven't completed the quest for it. Is there anything in the game that has been added to help a person at these levels so they aren't sitting waiting and looking for a group for for an hour or more?

I've developed a new policy over the last few years. If I have to wait more then a half hour while looking for a group in any game I log out for a while, usually for that night. If that keeps up for any length of time I cancel my subscription to that game and move or just give MMORPGs a break. It's been like that in EQ2 so that just got canceled today. This stopping me from getting back into Shadowbane as well.

I know there is a summoned partner a person can get in FFXI but I'm assuming it's a high level thing and it would not help those from level 1 to 20 am I right?

So do I have hours of waiting at the lower levels (7 to 15 mainly and above) for groups if I sign up again for FFXI?

Or does FFXI have something similar to Everquest 2 where high level players can mentor lower level players as a result their levels go do to that lower level players and as that person levels the high level players level goes back up to keep pace until mentoring is stopped (they get mentor experience I believe). Does FFXI have something similar to help with finding groups?

    Hi-o,

I'm relatively new to the game, I picked it up last summer (05) and I've only once ran into the situation where there was no-one in a 3 level spread of myself and I was still able to solo at the time. I have never 'not-invited' a person because they have no sub-job and I think your return would be well timed. The x-box beta should be winding up soon and we're likely to see an influx of new players across the servers. Also I know a number of high level characters that are starting thier 2nd or 3rd (or 6th) character. Just my 2 cents, and yes I believe there is some cap you can get if you have someone invite you on a gold world pass that efectively de-levels the person who invited you to your level.

I had forgotten about the Xbox beta. I've been really out of the console gaming loop since finishing college and started graduate school.

Anyway to get a new content id I have to put in my registration code again right? Since I checked and don't have one to restart.

I used to carry 2 jobs' gears ready to play both, and i do search level range to see which one I have more chance to make a solid PT or join one. I also set a limit. Wait until 8PM if no invite I'll stop and so something else sort of thing.

Yeah I used to set a time limit for seeking as SAM. 2 hours. No invites after that I'll either hop jobs or get offline. My saving grace as far as not losing interest while seeking is by not just stand in LJ seeking pt. I crafted, farmed, quested. Anything really that could pass the time. If you're worried about people not inviting you because you're not in Jeuno while seeking, just put (Home Point) = (Lower Jeuno) (Warp) (Ready!) or something like that in your /seacom. I never did understand how people can just sit in there MH in Jeuno seeking for hours.
