He has to have a seperate account. If you both try to play on the same account, it will kick one of you off.

A'ight, thanks. The reason he wanted to come back because back in the day he used to play as well, but was bothered by the fact you basically HAVE to group past a certain level with most classes. However, somewhere he read something about soloing being more possible nowadays (not nessesarily easier to solo, just possible). Is there any truth to this?

Re: Questions... should I come back?

Well, we now have things like exp rings that increase the amount of exp earned for a certain amount of time as well as an npc that you can play with as a teammate for a certain period of time. The npc as it levels and your bonds grow can have its job changed to suit your needs. Like if your a mage you can assign him the tank role. Or if you are a tank, you can assign them the healing role. It is still pretty slow soloing and not exactly easy like in WoW, but it is doable. I've solo'd many a job to 20-30.

Re: Questions... should I come back?

unless you play certain jobs (BST, RDM, SMN come to mind) it's still not very possible to solo. they increased the XP rewards of easy prey, but easy prey can still kick most people's asses.

there's the fellowship npc too that might help a bit, but it's still far from productive imho.

there was a hint that the expansion would bring more solo friendly areas, but who knows if that is true (sage sundi was wrong before).

          Thanks Yyg!

You seem to have more trouble then most others that have posted here when it comes to finding groups and soloing. Is it actually possible to solo or not? I'm getting mixed messages...

Re: Questions... should I come back?

Wanted to quickly post, not to beat a dead horse (is that how this saying goes?)...

Luck with LFP depends on any/all of the following (based on personal experience, not set in stone or anything):

Job you're wanting to level (keep in mind that high demand jobs like RDM, BRD, WHM may get invites faster since theres less of them)

Time of day (most NA parties start getting active after PST office hours. I'm EST myself, I get off work wanna do things at 6pm est... but its the middle of the work day for 90% of my LS and people I know lol)

Level range for that specific day (this is a weird phenomenon... the more jobs you like to level up, the better your chances of being able to exp grind a lot - if thats what you like to do - just do a /sea all level to see which levels have great party setups waiting to happen. I no longer have a main job anymore lol, most people I know dont, they either merit their highest jobs or is seeking on a job they like the most currently or is seeking for a job in the level range that seems popular for the day)

Timing - Weekends and JP prime time seems to be the best time for seeking, but it's also the worst time to exp because everybody is out doing that so most places are jammed. If you end up in an SPT, week nights are great to EXP since everyone does other things, and most spots have a manageable amount of people in them.

So... in general you either like the game or you dont ^^ there's always something to do, but no one can say you should do this or that

it's certainly possible i have a harder time than most. i work a full time job. when I get home, i have other responsiblities. once those are all taken care of, it's about 10PM which leaves me about 2 hours to XP.

like sdillion said, various conditions lead to not being able to get a group. the factors working against me are the time i start playing (parties are all assembled before 10 pm), the jobs i level (melee jobs) and the lack of ppl around my level seeking (correlation to factor 1).

as for soloing, i guess it depends on your definiton of possible. if you consider killing something for ~30 xp and having to heal for 5 minutes before taking something else again soloing, then yeah you can solo. but again, certain jobs can do it better than others (which is why I spend most my time on BST -- damn nerf!)

                    Thanks Yyg!

                      This is still true.
