    Re: Content ID/undeleting characters information

All right, here we go. I honestly can't remember how long it has been since I played, but I would say it's probably been over a year. When I stopped the first time, I went through the whole process, removing the game and POL and such. I thought I cancelled my content ID along with it, but according to my friend, who was kind enough to let me use his credit card to play, he says that it is still active. Is there any way for him to cancel it without me having to try and go through the trouble of retrieving my lost info, even though I doubt I can get any of it back?

      Re: Content ID/undeleting characters information

From the "Questions and Answers"-section on the official PlayOnline site:

Q: I deleted my unwanted FINAL FANTASY XI characters, but I was still charged a monthly usage fee for those characters.

A: If you no longer use a FINAL FANTASY XI character, you must cancel the corresponding Content ID. After cancelling the Content ID, you will not be charged from the next month onward. Note that deleting a character does not cancel the Content ID itself. To cancel the Content ID, go to the Service & Support page, select "Membership," then "Content ID," then "Cancel."

Might not be exactly like your problem, but I think I did the same way of cancelling since I couldn't install the game or whatever.

LOL Having some trouble posting! I just joined the forum~

Where is everyone?? O.O I have just returned to FFXI after a year, and my server is empty, my only linkshell attempt was a disaster, and the posts on most of the community forums seem to be from several months ago. I'm just a lonely little white mage looking for a place in Vana'Diel. Has everyone moved to the World of Warcraft? Where are all of my peaceful little Tarus? Someone join me in Siren! : )

I lost my password so i called the company to cancel my account. Not to mention my bank lost my checking account information to a thief and i had to close my account. an yet i am still getting charged a month for it. IF its pay to play, and they aren't allowing me to play, why are they trying to force me to pay???

Are they really in desperate need of my 15 bucks ???

No everyone and their mother now lives in Whitegate lol. As for what is happening to me. I think the world is imploding. Id be shocked if there was more then a total of 200k still playing.

            Re: Content ID/undeleting characters information

Everyone is saying the number of people playing has been the same for the past few years, but I'm not seeing that in Siren. Is there a list somewhere of the number of people in each server? >.<

              Re: Content ID/undeleting characters information

Don't think S-E will ever release the number of players per server.

BUT, if you look at this page from FFXIAH, you may get some ideas of how much more or less populous a server is compared to the next.

(Keep in mind that the "Characters" column denotes EVERYONE whose transaction has ever been caught by FFXIAH, including all those who have moved on, and does not include those yet to come. Those numbers will continue to grow even as the actual population holds steady around ~500k for all servers.)

                Re: Content ID/undeleting characters information

Can we really go off of the "500k" number anymore? I highly doubt that its maintained a subscription rate to combat the players being banned, or that are quiting. Not to mention that list is already a year old.

The most i seen on my server prior to my leaving was 2800 at best. I would then double that number to equal those offline, then half the number to account for misc players. So that 2800 online +2800 offline + 1400 misc players x 31 servers = 217,000 total players on the minimal known server.

My friend who's on another server says in the 4 days he was on this week the most he saw was around 4k so for my sake of argument i will up it to 4500. So thats 4500 online, 4500 offline + 2250 misc players. that equals 348,750 total players on the max server.

                THE WORST 217,000 - 348,750 THE BEST.

Seems like it was still ~500k users, up to about two months ago.

From List of Square-Enix Interviews, and Citations, 04/18/07 - Gamewatch Interview:
Editor: FFXI had 500 thousand users last year, but how are things currently?

Tanaka: Barely any change at all. Japan has seen an increase while North America has seen a small decrease.
                  ---

Editor: Would you attribute the decrease in North America to WoW?

Tanaka: No, there doesn't seem to be a connection. Recently we've been eliminating many accounts due to misconduct. Those numbers match the decrease we've seen. (lol) Honest users have not changed but dishonest users we feel are the one that have been culled from the game.
                  ---

Editor: Do you hear of players being banned only to immediately return?

Tanaka: We're gradually eliminating that as well. It's a vicious circle but as we keep at it, they eventually give up.
                  ---

Editor: So all in all, the playerbase does not fluctuate much?

Tanaka: That's right. After all these years it's a little sad when you think about it. Users increase whenever we add a new region or release to a new platform. Besides that, things never really go up or down. Therefore we're interested to see how things increase with the French and German versions, despite there being no new regions.

Ohh yeah lets believe what S.E has to say. I mean this is the same company who talked about not forgetting about Bst, An yet here we are over a year+ now an yet to see a change. But they haven't' shied away from buffing popular endgame jobs like smn, sam, and drk. Even going as far as to add even more DD gear for them.

Small increase an small decrease? Well what is that 1 player, 1000 players or 100k players. So basically what he is saying regardless how many we boot out every month. We manage to equal the same amount of players in. Something im finding hard to believe.

I think we all get that you're finding it hard to believe.

The fact remains, however, that none of us have any way of knowing how many people are currently subscribed to FFXI. So we just have to take their word for it.

I guess i can do 1 of 2 things. Go ahead and believe that there is 16k-20k players per server. With a total of 675players cycling on and off every hour. Even though for the last few weeks i was on i seen a grand total of 1200-2800 players including 3 prime times.

lol. Are you paranoid or something? I don't see S-E having a strong incentive to lie about the number one way or another. (If not enough people play, they'd start shutting down servers. If too many, they'd happily add more.)

If you read carefully enough, you'd note that Tanaka attributed the small loss of NA client users to mostly RMT and cheater booting (though didn't specify why the JP subscribers' numbers went up)

Why is it so hard to believe that a mature, five years old MMORPG can have relatively stable number of players for a year or two? Although not every game is that way, Everquest basically had about the same number of players from July 2001 to July 2005, for example.

Um. Last time I defended S-E on this by saying that BST can level just fine, I think my sister's BST was Lv.55 and taking a break from leveling. A few days ago, she hit Lv.60, so I'll say it again: S-E did NOT break BST. Made some things harder, yes, but also made converting mobs to EM easier.

BST changed, and probably never going back to the way it was before. That doesn't make it the end of BST, though; people are still leveling it, and it is still an impressively powerful job. (Next time I make this point again, my sister will probably be Lv.65 or 70. heh.)

Anway, the point is that BST adjustment isn't a high priority because it's still quite usable and capable. I'll excuse S-E on that, and flog them or not doing something about SC+MB instead, since that's not so usable or potent in these days of WS-spam-owns-all partying.

Then again, they are pretty busy with a new expansion and whatnot, so maybe instead of complaining, I'll just wait and see what else they are adding to Vana'diel soon.

I dunno if I'm paranoid or not. I do know they keep harassing me for $$$ even though i have canceled my contract with them verbally. Had to cancel my account they drew money from. An now 3 emails stating it was canceled. Seems to me like if they were so happy with subscriber numbers they wouldn't worry about 1 player with 1 mule.

It cracks me up that NA accounts are the ones being labeled RMT, and hackers. When it was the JPN. Who were the first to bot. hack, cheat, exploit and so on. they are the originators of the windower, ffXIassist. and so on.

Your right they did leave Bst alone presuming it was fine. They also left out a bunch of other jobs as well. All for the sake of boosting overpowered jobs at 75. They even go as far to give jobs with a ton of gear more options. All the meanwhile overlooking jobs that have garbage for gear. Besides its not I who stated " We know we farfed up Bst" comment it was S.E.

As for S.C an Mb'in i have been complaining about that for years. I always wanted each job to make the same skillchain with whatever weapon or job they choose. This would have ruled out the distortion onry party mentality. As for MB i always said it should be a higher DD total.
