Rage-enabled Hyper-Notorious Monsters make for some of the most entertaining end-game drama in any MMORPG. Probably one of the most interesting innovations in MMORPGs in quite a long time:

Where to begin.

Firstly, by definition, CoP must be end-game content as it is the most recent expansion and as such the last chapter is end-game as it stands till the next expansion. That said, CoP isn't what I view as challenging raid content. It's a series of nice cutscenes in amongst the hell of enforced level restrictions, secondary sets of gear purchasing, dozens and dozens of potions and medicines, and the sheer nightmare of trying to progress through the storyline with the same group of people. This coupled with the fact at certain stages a ninja is the preferred tank and then at other stages it's a paladin. Red mages aren't desired during the Promy stages so people are required to level additional jobs to progress through content. This is just a poorly disguised timesink and bad programming where a six person encounter all but enforces the exclusion of other jobs.

Now, on to the three aged ground HNM and their king variants. This content is how old now, 3 years? I don't know about your server but good luck beating JP linkshells to Behemoth and KB on Fenrir. Day after day, week after week the same LS's camp these mobs even though their main and secondary jobs already had all they wanted two years ago. Latest price on black belt items now on Fenrir is 3 mil a piece from the LS who dominates that spawn.

As to the mini HNM, LoO, King Arthro, Roc, Sim, and Serket. Again, how old is this content? The first two I listed there are perma camped by the same JP LS who even after the change manage to magically claim the mob a split second after it pops. The last three on that list are the province of gil sellers on Fenrir.

Sky, while fun the first three of four Kirin/god runs loses its lustre very fast, even more so after the ranger nerf. This coupled with the amount of competition there is currently between LS's to obtain trigger items and now the added competition from gil selling squads.

Dynamis, I agree, is challenging once you get past the initial trauma of the lag in the cities. My biggest problem with this isn't content related but my ability to see this content as a Euro. Sadly there aren't any LS's that do Dynamis runs at a time when I can attend so the few times I have been were at 2-5am in the morning.

First off, I didn't only explain the missions themselves.

And you can complete CoP without leveling other jobs. The way you make it seem is "bad programming". There is no 'exclusion" of jobs. The only really hard mission is 2-5, 4-2, and 6-4, the Omega/Ultima BCNM... it can be done with any job. Snoll can also be a problem. If your friend or yourself are excluded, its because A) you are with an ignorant bunch B) You just plain out suck at doing CoP with that job. Anything that "MUST BE TANKED WITH NINJA" can be tanked with PLD and vice versa, I promise you. PLD WHM BLM DRK THF RDM can get through the CoP missions just fine... so can NIN WHM SMN SAM WAR BRD... and so on.

Thats called the 'dirty, used up' track... if all you do is camp those NMs and do sky, well you should just quit and not tell us howmuch this game has no content. Midgardsormr is full of botting japanese/english players... somehow... *WOW* people who don't bot get the monsters. I've personally out pulled Mana with the spell Stun on LoO. If my server can beat their japanese players, explain why can't you.

I mean, little to nothing to achieve with an alliance of people working to overcome a tough mob that may take weeks to beat and yields items that are an upgrade to existing high end gear. I can't testify to the content in Sea as I'm not there yet. And yes, I feel the level cap is a ridiculous mechanism to implement in a game. I don't want to have to level to 75 and craft and farm my ass off to equip myself only to find I have to buy a set of level 30, 40, 50 and 60 gear to unlock new zones in an expansion I bought. Only to be forced to repeat missions for friends who missed one or two stages or to replace individuals who quit or just grew tired.

You outpull consistently or once every 10 windows? The freak time you may win a pull but generally they will win and that's how many hours of your life wasted camping a mob claimed by third party programs, bots, hacked controllers, or pure latency the GMs will do nothing about? No, what I'm saying here is just because I haven't completed all Dynamis's I can't comment on them fully. However, I will say that Dynamis is the closest thing for me to the old style raiding I'm used to including the lag.

I didn't mention the new wyrms as, again, my experience of these is limited due to the numbers of people playing during my timezone who are able to attempt such encounters. Although, I do think the idea of fighting the same mob for two to three hours for it to drop a fire crystal, as Tiamat did recently, is a practice in patience and nothing else.

This game has been around for three plus years now and compared to similar games the end-game raiding content is severely lacking. Maybe I'm more used to the EQ style of play and either need to get on board with the FFXI ethos or just quit and save myself the disappointment due to the expectation of challenging encounters that are never going to transpire.

I'm suprised you said the same thing 3 times and did not realize you were being a tad redundant. It is not that the end-game content is lacking, it's that gamers have a twisted view of goal priority once they ht 75. Camping a HNM with competition from 5 other linkshells is NOT something to do, and those that do it despite being maxed out in every possible way for 2 years are the real definition of losers.

I am greatly under the impression you simply read what you wanted to see in the post =/ If the game is so whack to you, try raising another job. Possibly a mage so that you get a change of pace. MY friend has at different times been the best NA DRG on our server and the best NA NIN (arguably the best NIN on the server period), but I think he has OCD, and since he couldnt get all +1 or rare gear, he felt gimp and simply quit. That nonwithstanding, he simply decided to raise another job.

On the surface, CoP may be viewed as a time sink. However, keep in mind that a team of people who are 75 can complete RoZ in as little as 2 weeks. Doesnt mean much for an expansion if it's easy.

As the game progresses, things must be alternated and changed. When the Rank 6 mission first came out, there was no lvl 75 cap, hell, I doubt there was a lvl 65 cap. Hence the seriousness of the Shadowlord fight. As it stands, it is entirely likely that at 67, I can fight the Shadowlord by myself. I already know that he is merely an EP joke to lvl 75 RDMs

Things like these are why the dev team decided to do what they did in CoP. And as you already said yourself, which impressed me, honestly, was that you should change your point of view to actually understand the game. I find it truly sad when someone who is at the end-game stage simply burns out before they experience things.

Like you also said yourself, and possibly due to your timezone, you havent experienced all the things offered. With that established, why bash what you dont know? And there are a ton of EU linkshells you could have went to, why, on Gilgamesh, a French LS (the FR that got the game when it came in NA, not the noob FR that got it on the release last year) was the first LS PERIOD to beat Fenrir.

I hope you understood where I am coming from. It's been a year and I havent seen half of what the game has to offer.

Oh, and nothing can be done about latency unless SE puts NA and EU side servers on the client. Arguably a simply task, I just think the bastards dont want to admit that their game is broken.

I apologise if it appears I'm reading what I want to into peoples' posts and if it seems I'm repeating myself it's due to the same issues and frustrations constantly arising.

The, "level another job" route has been tried to some extent. I have a 66 paladin which I burned out on and played ninja to 75. Currently levelling white mage but all I see this as doing is prolonging the inevitable. Part of me actually enjoys levelling and discovering new jobs, however, I like to have a goal in sight rather than just level all the jobs for want of something better to do. I agree 5-2 is insanely easy as a level 75 ninja, I all but solo'd him for a friend last weekend. Additionally, RotZ is painfully easy up to the AA stage with a group of 75's. Great cutscenes and impressive storyline but I'm really looking for a challenge other than the administrative functions of gearing, equipping and organising the next CoP run at 2am in the morning. And yes, to some extent, lack of a Euro contingent on Fenrir does hamper my enjoyment of the game, I'd be lying if I said otherwise. That, however, is another dicsussion entirely.

Ah, I understand ya somewhat now. I know that on Gilgamesh, the server is split 1/3 all ways - meaning that there are equal amounts on NA, EU and JP players. Of course, the EU players are still split between French and Portuguese, but in all honesty, JP and EU LSs beat the pants off of NA linkshells if for nothing that the fact that it appears the older members are selfless in regards to the younger.

What I mean by this is that it's more likely you'll see a JP or EU player getting good gear, because their LS is adamant about the individual getting better and feeling welcome to help out the whole. I think it has something to do with the difference in culture around the world, because NA ls range from the Elitist to the Generous, hence, it's easier to hear about NA players upset with the game than otherwise.

The fact that you are upset is shown due to your circumstances, so I apoligize if I was condescending at any point without realizing it.

So linking to the OP to this deviation, do you think WoW would be a better choice for you? I'm asking because now my train of thought has moved beyond which is better, and I'm asking based on player preferences in accordance to their situations.

First off, retreat from this discussion now if the only reason you a bashing the game is because you are euro. I know some Euro guys who work at weird times so they can play really freakin late. I feel bad for the Euro community as SE rather split them up, then have server mirgration than just have every euro be in three servers. But, we are not talking about that... a lot of your post is "I cant do this because I am Euro"... the fact you cant do it, means there is in fact something to do, meaning... hey, you are wrong.

You seem more annoyed that CoP is being done at 2-5am for you, because thats when Americans do it, not the fact CoP is being done. Your opinions are being biased on the fact you have to stay up too late.

Every player should have their AF stored, and easily can have level 30,40, and 50 equipment stored. Just buy a set of armor(Seer's, Muskeeter's, RSE, ect) that matches the level cap. Bam! Never a problem, along with some weapons on mules. We are talking about downright CONTENT. HNMing, I even said, is the DIRTY route. I have no interest in justifing JP claiming and MPKing. However, the fact you ignore hours and hours and hours of good CONTENT just because they cap you doesn't mean anything to you. Its time you stop being narrow minded and actually look around.

The key to having fun End-Game is... Mix it up.

Mond- Do a mission, level a NPC, camp a HNM for 3 hours
Tues- Level another job, camp a HNM for 3 hours
Wed- Do another mission, level NPC, kill something badass in a cap40 CoP zone
Thur- Do a few quest here and there, level another job, Dynamis
Fri- Level another job, Sky, camp NM for 3 hours.

And so on.

Don't limit yourself to end-game content and don't limit the end-game content. I swear to god if you complain that you can't do this because you are Euro, I'd have to tell you to STFU. I am not looking at your time zone or anything about you at all... I am looking at your statements. You said "FFXI has no end-game content" and I said.... NO. The answer is no. That doesn't change because you are Euro. Now go start a thread 'FFXI is unfair to Euro players" and we can end this one.
