Isn't Steam just the download site?

Man, I love it when people ask a dumb question and then instead of realizing that they asked a dumb question they get all dickish in response to the replies they get.

I didn't get a buddy key with my steam purchase. If you can find it in the store, maybe you'll find one in there. Maybe not. I don't know. However, Steam is indeed just a gateway. I don't even access steam any more to play FFXI, because why would I open two programs when I can open one? I'm sure there's probably a way to access your store bought copy of FFXI via steam, but I can't think of any reason why you'd want to.

minus the part where you insulted me thanks, i wan to have it on steam, because i like being able to see all my friends online and using the browser on it, i think every game should be on steam TBH it could be X-Fire plus a whole lot more. Anywho, i didnt ask a dumb question, i just didnt word it perfectly. And ive been on a forum before i know how "pro" react to "noobs" and id rather react like a "dick" than take it like a bitch and let him ruin my board. And i know saying this will just draw more ridecule so GET AT ME SCRUBS!

There is so much wrong with that, I don't even know where to start.

There are no buddy passes anymore, no matter how you get it. FFXI has a built-in friend list. You can link non-Steam games to Steam, and having an FFXI account lets you play no matter the platform or how it is installed.

                        1) Open Steam
                        2) Games -> Add a non-Steam game to My Library...
                        3) Choose FFXI from the list of programs

Jeez guys, I know he didn't use punctuation but I could understand the original post.

He's probably already quit or given up trying to acquire the game by now.
