I decided I wanted to give playing FFXI a try, but the last time I played was at least 5 years ago so of course I didn't have it still installed or anything (nor do I even own the computer I had it on!).
so anyway, I put PlayOnline on my new computer to see if I could get my characters back before installing the whole game. I used the Vista/windows 7 compatible version they provide on their website. It installs, opens, and updates just fine. The only problem is when I try to reactivate my account.
I can log in fine, and then it takes me to a screen that says to go any further the account needs to be reactivated. If I say I'd like to do that, it takes me to another screen that asks me to re-enter my playonline ID and password. However when I do this I get an error message that tells me I put the wrong information in. whaaat?
I know the info is right because I had to enter it to log in in the first place. I tried having my password reset, but this didn't fix the problem. I talked to customer support but they had absolutely no idea what the issue was and just wanted to reset my password again. I poked around online a little and it seems like other people with vista have had this problem too... but I couldn't find a solution to it.
