  • Friend getting 1 FPS

My friend is trying to play Final Fantasy 11 on Windows 7 64 bit, and he is having nothing with problems. When the game is launched through the PlayOnline Viewer, the game turns into a slide show, and he gets literally 1 FPS. We've tried just about every troubleshooting solution we could think of, from uninstalling drivers to using physical disks to play (He bought the Steam version).

Me, and 2 others are playing this just fine on Windows 7 64 bit with absolutely no problem.

He's running an AMD Phenom II, he has 4gb of RAM and a Geforce 9800.

Tried fiddling with the firewall and virus software or reinstalling DirectX? Tried booting the game with steam off? (You don't need it to play. Just start PlayOnline as normal.)

Here's some reading material for you regarding this: [ame=http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96243]New GTX 460; low FPS in FFXI - Order of the Blue Gartr[/ame]

I know my laptop's GPU has a similar issue (I talked to SE about it and they told me they don't support newer cards for XI.) Seems your friend is gonna have to wait until nvidia releases a new driver, which seems to be tomorrow (Wednesday) that attempts to fix it.

In the mean time, try the 175.16 drivers. SE has on their site that FFXI is compatible with those for the 9xxx cards.
