  • Odd graphical issue

this happens every once in a while... so far only 3 times and only just in town... (twice in bastok, once in sandy).

heres the latest time it happened. you can see the textures are all screwed up and what not.

could it be a driver issue? im currently using a gtx260 with 191.07 driver.

Windower can sometimes cause the graphics to freak out. Try opening the game without Windower to see if it fixes the problem.

If the graphics are fine when you're not using windower, that's probably the problem and I'd assume there's a fix to your problem somewhere in the windower forums.

It's a driver issue. This is very similar to what some people were experiencing with NVIDIA cards. Just play around with your drivers and it should work after that.

any particular drivers that you would recommend? i was using the 169.17 drivers that were recommended on this forum, but have since upgraded quite a bit in the past year and dont think those are supported in the gtx2XX cards. i also need my drivers to be semi up to date considering that FFXI isnt the only game i play.

I'm honestly not sure. If you poke around in these forums though, you'll find a similar thread where the character models looked very much like the pictures you showed. I can't remember what driver number was the solution, but it's an issue that NVIDIA users have. I'm almost positive Mhurron knows what I'm talking about, so you could ask him.

If anyone else can find it and post it here, that would be great. (if you don't have any luck) I couldn't find it earlier, but it's relatively recent.

Last thing is that for certain FFXI issues (much like this one), you might need to downgrade the driver. If the driver you have right now isn't the most recent, try upgrading it to the most recent driver. If it's the most recent driver, downgrade it.

it's a different thread. There are pictures of the character models where they show up as pure black.

There is a driver specifically made for ffxi. Just search ffxi nvidia driver in google. I'd post a link for you, but I'm not on my pc at The moment!

Only problem is it's only good for ffxi. It might slow down any other games you play.

                Edit!: it's 169.17

                      Re: Odd graphical issue

I found it, but what I'm thinking of is an issue with Intel 965 chips:

                      http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/fre...ssed-up-4.html

This looks pretty similar to the problem you're having and you might get some ideas looking at this thread. I would just say to mess around with the video drivers and see if you can find a nice balance so you can still play the other games you have on your computer. I'll try to find someone else that's having the same issue w/ NVIDIA.

169+ The drivers with a version number of that or greater all have the FFXI fixes in them. There is no need use older drivers.

If simple driver updates don't solve the problem, you can try downloading and installing nhancer and activate the POL profile when you play.
