How do I play FFXI on Windows 7 without it being super laggy? I can get the game to launch, and on my game box it says it's Windows 7 compatible but it is super laggy and I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz, Nvidia 9600GT, and 2GB of RAM. I can play Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 2 on the highest settings with no lag, but I've heard FFXI has problems with Windows 7. Changing the settings does do anything I've chnaged it from low to high settings in FFXI but the lag stays the same for me. How do I fix my lag problem on Windows 7?

Re: Windows 7 Problem
Might be a driver problem. I think some nVidia cards had major lag in FFXI if you didn't have a specific driver because of some issue they fixed. Try using the Search function to find threads related to that, because I'm sure there's been a couple.

with Nvidia, you have to use a specific driver version, not the latest, if you are having this lag issue. Its not windows 7 its Nvidia that's giving you hell.-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow, thats great. Everyone I know who has played FFXI on Windows 7 hasn't had any problems ever, so what are you doing wrong?
was it just that one series of cards that had that issue then? I remember people having to use a specific driver version on nvidia cards a bit back *shrugs*-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Windows 7 Problem
It was every series from 6 and up, possibly the FX series as well, but they had been dropped from primary support by the time nvidia fessed up and fixed their problem and I don't know if they backported the fix to the legacy drivers. The fix was referenced in one specific release of the drivers, the first one that had the fix, and that was the latest at the time. The problem has been fixed in each subsequent released, including the latest 190's.
The initial fixed driver was released before Windows 7. You would have to go back and use the Vista driver to use that release, a 173 iirc, and that would be just stupid.
The OP should probably be more clear as to what he thinks is lagging, and ignore those who say 'FFXI has problems with Windows 7' since they quite obviously have no idea what they're talking about.
