  • Overclocking CPU and FFXI?

I know that a while back, I could not overclock my CPU, because it caused a "speed hack" in FFXI, I was wondering, did they ever fix that? I have not bothered overclocking for a long time, but recently wanted to try it again, and was just wondering.

Difficult to fix what never happened. Timing hasn't been based on processor clock speed for a very very long time. People that claimed otherwise were speedhacking, got caught and tried to pull a fast on on the GM's.

Ya there was, among people who don't know what they're talking about.

The differences between a lot of processors and video cards in the same series is just the clock speed, they are essentially over or under clocked off the shelf. Also considering the minimum for FFXi is a P3 and a GeForce 256, everyone playing on a PC is now 'over clocked.'

I've always had at least one component overclocked as far as it can go for as long as I've been playing FFXI. Right now I have a P4D 3.2 running at a hair under 4GHz. When I started I had a ATI 9550 running faster then a 9600. Both cases, no problems, and no 'speed hacks.'

back when I heard about it, I did not know what I know now about overclocking ;p just in that time span of.... like 4 years, I never really looked into the "issue" good to know though that it was never really true.
