What happened...?

So apparently I was partying in the dunes, when my character randomly started running around in circles, all I could do was type and hit *Heal*. For some reason I was able to log off, and after I did log off, I noticed I haven't been able to log on since that point. I've been getting the usual Pol error 3001 or that same character is logged in. Granted it's been about 15 minutes or so, but usually by the 15 or rather 10 minute mark I'm able to log back in. Wondering is this just a bug or something else...? [edit] I have just tried again, and I can get the loading bar all the way towards the end, but for some reason it seems to give me the FFXI error of 3001 once again, the thing is I'm not even attempting to get on the same character that got logged out from the dunes. Codes that I get are 3001 and 3201 Well apparently it's a packet loss (or what I'm getting now), the thing is it doesn't explain the running in circles, and the "no-response" from my keyboard and mouse (when I tried to navigate with it)

I know this is going to sound simple, and asshat ish... but did you restart your computer then tried loggin back on?

Yep, did that, restarted the router, scanning the whole computer at the moment, checked the firewall, checked the router after restarting it.

you said you scanned the computer, do you mean a virus/spyware scan, or a file check in POL/FFXI?



if not try a file check through POL, maybe you have some corupt FFXI files *shrugs*

I had that annoying problem once 3 years ago. Somehow i had sticky keys enabled and bugged the game. Another time i had somehow managed to lock the left mouse with autorun...needless to say cirdcle city. I don't remember how i fixed it tho

Not sure about the not being able to log in thing. The run in circles/stand and turn in circles thing I do on occasion though I don't know how. It's annoying. For me, the fix is a quick double-tap in the opposite direction on the keyboard. Good luck.

If you are using the unofficial Windower, this can create a similar problem when multi-tasking while in game. Seems to be the night for game issues, I can't seem to stay in game for more than 10 seconds before it POL crashes the game. Gosh.....I computers!

Huh...while I've thought about running the unofficial Windower, I've decided against it for the time being. I've noted that I'm getting more time-outs than anything. I attribute that to everyones favorite ISP....

i've had the running in circles and my keyboard and mouse not work in game problem, kinda. I use the official windower and i used to double click on the active window title to expand the game screen to take up everything except the task bar. i would usually do this on the character selection screen or during the opening movie. It wasn't 100% reproducible, but soemtimes my left and right arrows would stop working on the selection screen. I only noticed this when i wanted to log onto my mule first, which wasnt often. More often, i would log into my main and she would be running in circles in my mog house or i coulding switch the - menu left or right. The left or right problem was the easier iof the two to fix in that i could take my invisible mouse pointer and click someone where on the game screen to get all the functions of my keyboard working. However, when i had the running in a circle problem the only thing i could do was /heal and log out.

A few weeks ago i stopped double clicking the title bar to maximize and started using the maximize button in the upper right hadn corner of the window and i havent had the running around problem since. I don't know if i've just been lucky or if it it actually makes a difference.

I know this doesn't address your major problem of not being able to log in after the last incident. Someone already suggested restarting, which usually solves most of my problems. Good luck.
