I know there have been various other topics concerning problems with the GeForce 8000 series, but I was wondering if anyone had found a difinitive solution to the problems? At the very least, the recommended drivers from Square Enix do nothing at all for my laptop (HP dv6700), and I still have the same wierd lag going on.

I've tried various suggested drivers and they all seem to be having no impact whatsoever, is there any other reason for it?

I'm currently troubleshooting the problem (it's all I've been doing today.) I'm on my final test, that I'm currently capable of doing, which should (hopefully) prove positive results.

There's two tests I haven't been able to do (and won't be able to until I return home from Japan in late December.)
1.) Windows XP Partition
2.) Port Forwarding / Using a different internet from another location (Preferably not networked)

I have noticed that my laptop is constantly pulling data when I'm in-game. I don't remember this happening before on my other PCs back in the states -- at least not as much. If you're able to try any of the methods I'm incapable of doing right now, that'd be a big help.

I'll edit this in about an hour and let you know how my final troubleshooting goes. I do suggest installing the drivers that are listed on the POL website, as they helped me tremendously (for other people reading this.)

Edit: No go. I've tried every single thing I can think of + all the tips I've found online. Only thing I can think of is that it's CPU and Vista related.
