I have been trying for the last 2-3 weeks to figure out why FFXI is lagging so badly. According to my system specs, I should be more than able to handle the game... Nonetheless, I lag a lot. Here are my system specs:
Motherboard: EVGA 780i SLI
CPU: Intel Quad Q6700 overclocked to 3.3GHz
Video Card: HIS Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB DDR5
RAM: Patriot Viper 4GB
Sound: Auzentech X-Fi Prelude
Currently, I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, however, I have the same problem on XP.
I have read in multiple places that X-fi cards are not good for FFXI at all? With my old 8800GT, the game ran just fine, however, since I upgraded to my new card, I am having serious lag problems (I used to lag on the 88000GT since I play @ 1920x1200 but not like I'm lagging now) I reckon my new video card is at least 10 times as powerful as the old one?
Can anyone shed some light on this please? I am really going crazy over it
I can't even play in a merit party because the fighting effects kill me :\
Thank you so much!
