not sure how much luck i will have posting this in here but i am desperate for any help so ill give it a shot
k so i play on a Dell XPS M1330 laptop
I wanted to update my video card (8400M GS) driver on my laptop so I did it the way I always did it with my dell desktop at home (In doing so I followed the usual nvidia instructions of uninstalling all nvidia display drivers from my computer via add/remove programs before downloading the new one)
I went to the nvidia website, and downloaded what i thought was the compatible driver update, and then i reliazed i had to go through dell because nvidia did not have the compatible one for this card
So i used the dell website to find the lastest driver verson for my card and the download goes fine, the installation runs, and then at the end it simply says, "Your system was not modified. Please run the installation again to modfiy...." or something like that. The same thing happens everytime i run the installation, or restart my computer.
I asked around and someone recommended the DriverMax program. This program quickly found the driver update but this also never works. I click download and say "Yes" to allowing DriverMax to install it and nothing happens in the DriverMAx queue. The only thing DriverMax ever does is upload a bunch of things and never responds when I want it to download the driver.
SO right now, because i guess i uninstalled the drivers back when i first was attempting to download from nvidia, my computer cant run any games (without being compltely horrible looking) or other things and i cannot find anything that will wok (And when I look up my video card on my computer it no longer says "Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS" it only says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"
I am totally lost and have no idea how to go about fixing this. I'm sorry if the solution is somewhere on the forums i am just running out of patience.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thank you
