is it possible to install ff11 with no dvd

ok so back in January of 2007 i bought final fantasy XI for two reasons:
I love square enix / squaressoft games
and i got bored of playing guildwars.
any way i later joined the navy and have been all over the country from school to school and stuff.
so i bought a cool new little laptop that i know can run the game. the problem is i don't have any of my stuff for all i know my box and dvds are in some tiny box somewhere in mexico.

so is there any way i can install the game without the boxes.
i looked for torrents but its not there.
i installed pol viewer and even bought the content id. only to find out im paying for subscription to a game i cant play.

how can i install ff11 with no cds or dvds

I do not think you can install them unless you actually have the disc the game is on. Square-Enix does not have an option to download the game from their site directly, or at least I have not seen it.

You may want to call PlayOnline and have them cancel your subscription until you are able to get the discs and install the game on your computer.

nothing much you can do, you need those cd keys anyway

just order it off a site or something, the 08 collection is only $30

Yes, I just bought it. It comes with a free month's subscription, a map of Vana'Diel and you also get a new character guide to help you through the starting areas. For $29.99 it is definitely worth it.

Dear OP,

Don't call SE and ask about torrents unless you want to get a very quick b&. If you have an active account and all your codes already, then try looking for a torrent if you really don't feel like buying the game. I've got a tab open right now showing a torrent for the newest collection, so they're definitely out there. You just have to look a bit harder.

I was not telling him to call Square-Enix to get a copy of the game, I thought he might want to call and cancel his subscription until he can get a copy of the game. As it stands, he said he is paying for FFXI and he is not able to pay.

If he can find it from a torrent and wants to get it that way, it is worth a shot.

You don't want to cancel your account, you'll lose everything that way. You can install PlayOnline Viewer, the component necessary for managing your content IDs, without any media. Download links follow:

You can use this to access your POL account and manage your content IDs until such time as you find a solution to your missing media. Select whichever version corresponds to the region of the POL you set up your account with in the first place.

Everyone is taking what I am saying the wrong way, I was not telling him to cancel the entire account. From what I read in his post, he has not actually played the game yet, and he was concerned about paying for the game subscription while not being able to play. I told him to cancel the subscription until he figures out what to do. Are you not able to cancel a subscription without canceling the entire account?

It's all in the wording. Canceling the account would destroy any work and invalidate codes used on the account. Canceling Content IDs is the way to go. They seem like slight differences, but if you word it wrong to an SE phone rep you could screw yourself over.
