    Feba... shut up
Well when you come out and start blatantly stating false "facts," you mitigate from opinion and more into... how you say... idiocy.

Have your own opinion? Cool. But so far there hasn't been any logical proof that opinion == fact.

Sure I should. Your 'opinions' are dead wrong, and anyone who actually knows anything about computers - regardless of what OS they use - can easily see that. Saying that "Windows is for gaming" is as asinine as saying "Fords are for rural areas" or "Hondas are for city driving". It's blatantly false, and anything involved does fine in other areas as well.

Speaking solely on desktop users, the amount of people that use one OS because it's better for some certain application is insanely small. People who take time to fairly test multiple options generally settle on one because they enjoy using it more than the others. There's no reason why someone who just wants general desktop use would go for windows over OS X or Linux, there's no reason why someone can't host a server on OS X or Windows if they want, and there's no reason why someone can't do their media editing on Windows or Linux. They're stereotypes, and quite frankly they need to die because there is no truth in them. The only thing that's even close to truth is Windows for gaming, and that's becoming less and less true all the time. The Wine project is running more and more games all the time (and some of them flawlessly; even better than under Windows in a few circumstances), and more developers are porting their games to Mac and Linux. Most major PC titles can be played under Wine in Linux; and probably under OS X too.

        Re: FFXI on Mac?

some times stereotypes are true, as in this case, for the most part

again I like all three OSs, but I like playing game, and knowing they will work, so I use Windows, if I wanted to do Video/music editing, guess what, I will use what will do the job the best, a Mac, and if I want to get into hosting servers for things or work more with the OSs core, I would use Linux.

Are you even reading anything anyone else is saying?

Blizzard games run really well on OS X by the way. I actually like the built in video recording features you get with WoW on a Mac.

            Again, wrong.

I mean, I don't have a problem with you being an idiot, but don't spew your stupidity where an innocent newb might pick up on it.

Another tip, when you're arguing with Mhurron about something computer related, you're probably wrong. He is easily the most knowledgeable person on this forum when it comes to computers (at least, those who talk about them); and one of the most knowledgeable people I know outside this forum.

Are you saying that you play WoW?

well no duh WoW runs well on MacOS... it was made to run on both OSs just like all Blizzard games. Besides I am not really arguing with Murphie, he is right, and so am I, in different aspects.

                    Re: FFXI on Mac?

your saying that all the OSs can be used for all things, witch is true, but at the same time one OS is better at something then another.

But really we all have our OS preferences, mine being Windows, others being Mac and Linus, I don't care, but Feba needs to stop being an ass.... there is telling someone they are wrong, and then theres Feba......I honestly dont see how he is still here -.-

anyway.... there is truth in what you say Murphie, and there is truth in what I say.

One OS isn't really any better though. That's what everyone is saying.

                        Re: FFXI on Mac?

in general operation, yes this is true, but there are just some things (things I have mentioned) that are done on these OSs more then others, and for good reason.

Yes, but you're wrong about the things you have mentioned. Then when people called you on it you said "in my opinion." Which is still wrong.

Well, some OS have clear and obvious benefits over others; I would personally say that you can call one OS 'better' than another. The point is that OS aren't inclined towards one specific benefit. For example, I am of the opinion that Ubuntu (and similar linux distros) are far better than Windows. However, that does not mean there is one specific task where Ubuntu is great and Windows utterly fails, it just means that overall I feel it is superior. I don't do any programming, or run any servers, or anything like that-- I do what I want to do on it, and the way it works makes me happiest. The same could be said for anyone who has used OS X or Windows and decided they prefer that.

No. They are not. As has already been pointed out, your idea that Linux is more often used for programming is retarded for the simple fact that people program on the platforms their apps are going to run on. I highly doubt there are any programmers out there on OS X that switch over to linux to write code. There are plenty of people out there doing their video, music, graphics, and so on in linux. And there are people with Windows running servers.

Your ideas are incredibly wrong; severely outdated at best. Please, stop talking.
