PoL Crashes to desktop.. Wow! That Sucks!

So I finally purchase FFXI. I go to 3 different malls to find it in stock. I purchase the version that cotains all the expansions minus the newest one that was just released.

I get home, all excited. I install Playonline, I load it up. The video plays then BOOM. Crash to desktop. Nice!

I hope theres a solution to this problem. I tried the newest driver then I tried the drivers listed on the requirements site here :

None of them work. Here are my specs:


AMD 4800 Dual core 2.5ghz
2GB Ram
175GB 7200 RPM
Nvidia 7600 GT 256 MB
Win XP SP 2

Yy friend purchased the exact same version as mine at the same time and his is working smooth.

This isnt an FFXI error this is a playonline viewer error, sorry for not being more specific.

I turned off the opening movie. Still not working. I restarted pc, not working.

There is no option to file check because it crashes after the SQUAREENIX logo.

Any other suggestions? Waiting for play online support to respond..

Only 2 things it might be is a file didn't get transfered from the cd to your system. The only way to figure that out is to uninstall it all and then reinstall. The other thing is Nividia and FFXI have always clashed for some odd reason. There is a link on the site that will take you to the various drivers for the Nividia graphics cards.

Try to play another Pc game and see if it crashes. If that doesn't happens that measn your getting enough power to your G.C and thats not the issue. Then its basically narrowed down to a capatibility with FFXI and Nividia.

There might be a specific link amongst this topic area. Its an older thread from Aug but it has updates an maybe some useful information. Although I don't feel like going thru 8 pages myself..
