Alright, so I'm new to fairly FFXI (although I played it breifly in 2004), and I recently bought the game yesterday for the Xbox 360 hoping to enjoy it with my good friend. I went through the POL setup and actual game install nice and smooth. However, on the actual game update (all 8294 files), I've ran into problem, after problem, after problem.
First, I got an error with no description, and only one instance of it recorded on google, just after finishing checking files. I reinstalled. (2 hours or so have passed since I put the game into the xbox)
After reinstalling and re-checking all the files the download finally starts. However, it's going at a painfully slow pace. So slow that it would've taken 39hours at its current pace to download all files. I'm on cox workplace internet, my down stream is something like 16mbps. My friend on DSL, downloaded the entire update in 4 hours.
I figured at first that it may have been my router, so I took it out of the equation and went straight through my modem. same speed. So, without any other options I let it sit. (12 hours since i put the disc in)
After 12 hours, I woke up to see that the install had failed again, (due to the server maitence today). So I hit retry, and it re-connected to the server and continued to download files (around 4000 left).
Shortly after the maitence, my connection reset for some odd reason. So I restart and recheck the files. (18 hours since I put the disc in). As soon as the files start to download again I get an error saying a file (the last file I downloaded) was corrupt on my HDD. So I check files in the POL, it says everything is fine. Now I'm reinstalling the game, again.
(26 hours since i put the disc in)
I've also tried contact POL support, I waited on hold for 30 minutes, and finally just gave up. Honestly, if I didn't know the game was any good I would've long since returned it.
