  • Can anyone teach an old Galka new tricks?

    Hi everyone,

I am an old player who has returned to FFXI from a loooong break. Having had all 3 versions of the game, JP, NA and EU it transpired that the only account I could reactivate with the software I had installed was my EU account, which figures as it is the EU version of the game.
Having looked at the forums and finding no complete answer I wondered if anyone could help me with the following:

My original char was a Galka on the JP client. I found that I was able to play this char on the NA version with no problems, I don't know how or why this was the case. Still, when I came to ressurect the old boy through the return to Vana'Diel programme it seemed that I couldn't reactivate as my password/ID was invalid and the error message popped up. I realise that it is probable that I need to PoL JP client installed and updated to reactivate this and I have no doubt that I can more than likely install this alongside my EU version, however if I can do this, could someone offer assistance, and having done that would it then be possible to play on the EU version of the game? Again if it is, then any pointers? My wife has the NA version and couldn't install the EU TAU on her comp, having to buy a separate code from the POL site.
Sorry to sound like a total thicko and thanks in advance for any help. Sorry also if I have missed a post where this is all explained.
    To summarise:

    JP character
EU/NA/JP POL and basic FF versions available to me
    EU account and FFXI installed

Can i ressurect my JP account and play on the EU version?

    Thankies

It depends on which registration code you used to activate the account. The client you use does not matter - you can use any client to connect to your character. However, reactivation of an existing account must always be done using the original account number and password.
