I'm installing two copies of the game on seperate systems, on the first the ffxi file checking process and crashes with the error: POL-1153

and on the second system it tells me that the card I'm using is invalid (the exact details as I put in to the first system)

I don't know off hand what that error is, but you may want to search for it on these forums, or on www.playonline.com for more information. Or perhaps someone else here will know what it is.

I've had this problem when using the same credit card for multiple accounts (mine, wife's, and 2 mule accounts). The game won't let you use the same credit card for more than one account for so unknown amount of time. Not to say you can't use it to pay for more than one account. But you have wait at least an hour after changing one account to that CC before using it on another. I don't know why it is this way.

EDIT: Found the error info on this site. http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/gam...or-1153-a.html

      More details:

The first system crashes on different files, and its not getting further, ie the first crash was at 75, second at 80, third at 32 and the fourth at 20.

Ok, how much money does it try to take out, for the first month (the free one)?

Also the error text is: Problems with the HDD data were detected. Version update failed.

        Re: Update problems

        system specs would be INVALUABLE

POL-1153 is a connection error. Check your network and if all seems fine, try again at a later time. POL is a bit flaky for some people (depending on your network provider).

        Thanks Yyg!

          Re: Update problems

It'll be the network then, it crashes when anything 1 bit (or so :D) is sent over it

The card problem is because there is no money left in account, for some reason playonline is trying to take money.

              Re: Update problems

              1) try connecting to the router/modem directly instead of going over wireless

              2) the Intel 950 might not be compatible with the game. have you tried running the ffxi benchmark to see if it'll work?

              3) not enough harddrive space on any of the systems to install the game, much less update

              Thanks Yyg!

When a company verifies a purchase, they do so by authorizing a charge. After authorizing, the company has 3 days to withdraw the money. They arn't actually charging you, they are assuring that the card is real. To do so they try to authorize your card, yet you bank is telling them that the authorization fails.

I know, but I need to know how much they are trying to take out, so I know how much to put in

                    Re: Update problems

About $12.95, a dollar more for any mules or extra content IDs you are purchasing.

But...it's the first month, surely they could just take 0.01

They won't take anything. They are just verifing that the card is active.

Good news, the card problem has been dealt with.

And the update problem is gone too
