For the past 5 months I've been getting the HDD error whenever there was an update. I reinstalled windows, defragged my drive, uninstalled and reinstalled FFXI even played with the registry (kids don't do this at home). Usually i just keep retrying till it goes through. That strategy worked fine till I bought a new laptop and got the same error which always happened in the last 5 minutes of 3+ hour download. Frustrated I went to my local game store to go buy WoW because I didn't want to game on my old laptop anymore. The clerk there questioned my sanity (he plays FF also). I told him about my problem then he snatched the WoW package off the counter and asked me if I used Zone Alarm and if I did turn it off during the update. I ran home santizied my hand to remove the WoW ichor (night elves /shudder). Turned off my anti virus started the update went to movies and came home to update complete screen. Now I just have to redo my macros

I have been told before that Zone alarm is evil.
Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.
