I got a new computer today with windows vista home premium installed, and FFXI seems fine (besides the one POL hitch before I knew you had to d/l something extra from the FFXI site) except the gamma is super weird. It's very dark, and I know it's not my screen because it was fine with my previous computer, is there anything that can be done that doesn't involve me turning my screen brightness up? Or is this a common problem with vista.

I haven't noticed a problem with FFXI on Vista. Perhaps you could start by upgrading your video cards drivers, then playing with the gamma settings provided by your card. There is also a gamma slider in the config tool.
If it's everything thats dark, not just FFXI, then perhaps the colour settings on your monitor need to be tweaked since it's attached to a different computer. -

Check your card's gamma settings, or your monitor's, or possibly your windower's if you're using one. I think I had mine set at 50, 55, or so. When it was set at 60 by default it seemed way too dark.Comment

Yeah, as stated check the Config Tool. I run FFXI on my Vista laptop and have had no gamma problems.FFXIV Balmung Server

Guh okay so the gamma settings on the ffxi config do nothing, and strangely enough when I turn the brightness up on my screen while FFXI is running, it doesn't change FFXI at all BUT when I select something and it flashes, the flash is 50 times as bright.. I don't get it. ; w ;Comment

Yeah I have noticed that FFXI is darker on Vista. But everything else on my PC seems brighter then when I had XP installed on this Comp. I tried tweeking the comp to see if I could make it brighter but it doesnt work. But it really doesnt bother me I just thought it was weird..."You can do anything that you put your mind to, you just got to try and never give up!"Comment

I got a problem with vista too.
I downloaded the POL for vista too, and that one worked. He updated and everything went fine.
Then i installed FFXI, but when i tried to launch it, he said he couldn't found the software and gave a POL error.
Just curiuos i check the FFXI config too, and he vista gave me an error message: This program is impossible to excecute. We'll inform about the problem later when we find more information.
I installed FF 2 times now already and i really have no clue...Comment
