Why didn't you buy your region's version? This site has all sorts of guides on how to sign up for a JP account, but that for before the NA and EU clients were released...

I might be able to help if I could see the screens. Why can't you post them here?

You could've gotten the PS2 version from north america, that would've at least been in english.'

EDIT: Honestly, you're probably getting in over your head, if you can't understand installation, it'll be nearly impossible to actually play the game.

            Experiencing first model PS2?

We used to have a detailed translation for Japanese set up but I don't see it anymore. Not sure if it still exists.

If you can't post the screen you might have to find a real friend to read it for you.

You won't have fun with the game tho if you can't read Japanese. The original PS2 model, HDD and FFXI are also available in US version, I recommend you get those instead if experiencing with PS2 is all you want.

But in all honesty, it's not worth getting PS2 for FFXI anymore. Maybe 3-4 years ago, but not this late. The original PS2 were already discontinued, even a new box will already be 3-4 years old, finding PS2 expansion for FFXI is hella hard, and it has a very low resolution that it will hurt you eyes.

Re: [help] Japanese installation of FFXI PS2

                OK, Screens in order:

                1. Create a Playonline password, enter same in both boxes (ID is generated automatically)
                2. Create mail password, same as above
                3. Enter your name. The top boxes are for entering Kanji, the bottom for entering the same info in Kana. Left box is family name, right box is first name. You need to fill out all the boxes. I suggest just trying to type your name in normally in the boxes, if it doesn't work you might need to know how to type your name in Kana for the bottom 2.
                4. Top box is your post code, drop down list is your prefecture (kind of like a state).
                5. City and ward, street number.
                6. Building name, phone number
                7. Email address

Oh ! Very thank your help is very useful. But I have a little problem with names. I suppose that kana must be the same as kanji. But I don't know how to enter the same name in diferent characters. Botom 2 field is allway clear when I enter text. there may be a verification with kanji field.

Other thing I have an error when I validate fomr.

the name can both be in Katakana. When I registered mine I used Katakana for both fields.
