Downloading patches without POL?

Is there a way to get the FFXI patches without using POL?
I've tried patching 3 times already. After downloading the latest version's information and POL checks the game files, i get error code:pol-1160 when downloading the game files hits around 5%.

-I guess the FFXI servers were just buggy it has now finished downloading properly.

download them on a working computer, copy them over, then run it again on your main computer. You'll still have to go through checkfile, but the actual downloading will be skipped.
