downloading ffxi

I recently purchased ffxi and i am having trouble downloading it. I have vista and i downloaded the vista playonline and got everything registered and what not but now i tried to play and it says i have to download the actual game. When i put in the disc it just tries to download playonline. I am in quite the pickle and any help is much appreciated. thanks.
