OK so SE does allow the use of the G15 keyboard...well atleast I think so i havn't been baned from using the scripts i've been using...

Would the admins here be against setting up a forum for G15 scripts?? I have a few fishing/synth gear swap scripts i wouldn't mind sharing.

Edit>> Also place this where ever it fits...i really didn't know where to put this post

I HIGHLY doubt it'll be allowed. Anything that takes advantage of your character doing something for you while you're not present is against the rules.

As a suggestion, if you want to talk about it, set up something like a wordpress, or livejournal account, free and people can access easily.

did i say its going to automate the game/character? No, the script will equip and start fishing for you but it won't fight the fish for you. Synth script will use the crystal and put the items in ths slots but you have to hit enter to start synthing. Gear swap is the same you just have to have the equipment. Nothing allowing you prolonged periods of fishing without you there. you're still fighting the fish you're still enitiating the synth you're pressing the macro button to swap your gear. Nothing entierly automated you're still playing the game.

So... you're asking to do it for you, while you're at the controls of the game still...

            Re: G15 Scripts

Something tells me that having a script to an in-game activity for you, no matter how trivial it may seem, is probably against the ToS. That could technically be considered third party software (I'm assuming it uses some software to run scripts) and could get you into some trouble.

              Re: G15 Scripts

IIRC, SE doesn't have a problem with "macroing devices" per se as long as you are manning your character. However, they do ban/suspend people for using scripts to repeat actions, AFK skill-up/craft, Fishbot, Minebot, <insert activity>bot. My brother has one of those macroing controllers and he got a 3 day suspension b/c he forgot to turn it off while he was skilling up Enhancing Magic outside his moghouse (he had it set to do cast Bar- ad nauseam, rest, wake, cast Bar-...) and a GM figured out that he was AFKing.

I don't have a G15, I have the G11 and I use the keys to cast spells mostly. The G11 is basically the same keyboard, but it doesn't have the HUD. I assume it macros the same way the G15 is (keystroke by keystroke) which is kind of a pain in the butt, but hey, I use basic macros like /ma "Cure IV" <p0> and so on on the macro keys for quick casts. For anything involved, I use the in game macroing system. I suppose I could do things like:

              CTRL down
              SHIFT down
              WAIT 0.5
1 [to select macro palette 1]
              WAIT 0.5
              SHIFT up
2 [to activate CTRL line macro 2--EQUIP SWAP or something]
              WAIT 8.0
4 [to activate CTRL line macro 4--A Spell on that equip swap]
              CTRL up

It's a pain in the butt to make 'em like that though b/c you can't set waits on the auto-record--you have to use the gui interface.

                Re: G15 Scripts

Funny timing, I just ordered one of these last night after doing a bit of research.

GMs have said that they're not against keyboard macros, so long as you're physically at your computer. Basically, the G11/G15 gives you 54 more macro spaces. From what I understand, it's really difficult to set up long macros using the keyboard, especially in laggy places.

If you do a bit of googling, you can find programs that make use of the LCD screen on FFXI, and guides on how to make the keyboard macros work for FFXI.
                Generic Info!

                  Re: G15 Scripts

The most efficient use of G15 macros are, unfortunately, using them to trigger windower macros.

I really wish SE or Logitech would release a streamlined FFXIinterface program for G15 keyboards, especially considering the promotions they do together (SE hypes the G15, they give them away at events such as fan fest, etc.)

Just something simple, like a info readout on the LCD and a way to link G15 macros directly to FFXI. And by info read out, I mean mundane character info, like <pos>, <hp>HP <mp>MP <tp>TP, <mjob>/<sjob>, maybe Current area. Nothing that couldn't easily be found out in game, so you don't really have an advantage over anyone like you would with say, TParty, but still info that would be nice to have at a glance.
