Hello! I've, for the life of me, can't figure out how to get past this data1.cab error. I recently bought the Japanese All-in-one 2004 pack, containing FFXI, Zilart, and Promathia. (I also have a JPN Aht Urhgan, but I haven't gotten hat far yet.)
First off, I'm using a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop with specs that are well more than high enough to run FFXI. I, up until yesterday, had an American copy of the game installed. After uninstalling that, I tried installing the JP-FFXI. It copied the PlayOnline just fine, but the first disk of FFXI is giving me trouble.
Installing it directly from the CD, I received the data1.cab error after 15% of the installation was done. This occured when I originally installed my American FFXI. I copied the disk to my HDD using the method I used year ago, which is located here: http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/gam...ight=data1.cab
Now it's giving me the data1.cab error after 13% installation. I bought this All-in-one 2004 pack from eBay and it was still factory sealed, so there really isn't any chance of me returning it. However, data1.cab errors don't mean that the disk is bad. My next step is to try this on my desktop, then copy; but honestly I'm at a loss. (And very close to breaking my damned laptop. >_>)
I know a lot of people on the forums have Japanese copies of FFXI. If you've heard of other ways to get around this problem, please let me know. I'm in dire straits and I'd love to be able to use my Japanese FFXI to talk with some of my friends online without having to use romanji. Thanks for all your help in advance.
