  • Letterbox?

I began playing FFXI on Xbox 360 and had to give i t up for my fiance who wanted to play also.

So I bought the PC version and now play on my laptop... After getting used to the controls I only have one more question, is there anyway i can get rid of the "letterbox" style game view, and have a true full screen view?

    Thank in advance..

You can adjust the screen ratio in the Config menu in-game on the PC version. I'm assuming you're talking about screen aspect ratios when you say "letterbox"?

Ok I adjsted that and it isn't what i meant...

By letterbox i mean the large spaces around game view that is all black...

Instead of monitor being completely video, there is a black border around the viewer, and it's a little bit annoying...

      Any help is appreciated
      Thanks

        Re: Letterbox?

Wait... so you're saying the game takes up less of your screen than standard Windows?

That sounds like you have a video driver problem. Either you're using an unsupported resolution, you're using an insufficient Refresh rate, your drivers are out of date, or something else is going on. FFXI always defaults to full screen mode.

Can you provide your monitor make and model, graphic card make and model, as well as video driver version number? Without that it's not possible to diagnose what might be happening.

Also, if I am misunderstanding you, then a digital photograph of the black margin effect on your screen would be helpful (you can upload the pictures directly to your post as long as you keep them optimized).

:OThat's weird. The game doesn't have any settings that do that.

Have you tried adjust your monitor? Maybe it's because the game runs at different resolution as your windows so it doesn't fit on screen. If you use newer monitor, the "auto" button will do. If not, look for the width and height settings.
