    Re: Another ps2 Question ^^

As far as keyboards go, any that you think look nice, and seem good quality that connect through USB. The same one you us one compy, maybe? And for sure they have one at Wal-Mart.

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

      Re: Another ps2 Question ^^

I used a Powerboard PS2 USB Keyboard when I was playing FFXI on my PS2 back in the North American Beta. However, this Logitec PS2 USB Keyboard looks like it should work just fine:

EDIT: I'm not sure if the PS2 requires a specialized USB keyboard or not. It's not expensive regardless.

It doesn't, any old USB keyboard will work, or a normal keyboard with the small USB converter will work, I used to have to swap from compy to PS2 all the time. :x

Yeah, any USB keyboard should work. I went to the computer store and bought the cheapest keyboard that I could find that didn't look like it would break too easy.

my suggestion, if you can find it somewhere, is the NetPlay Controller from Logitech.

it has the functions of a keyboard, which is removable, and PS2 controller in one unit. it makes gaming much less cumbersome in my mind.

            hope that helps

I found and old keyboard in a dumpster ( lol ) and it worked. It was a PS/2 connector, so I just found a PS/2 > USB converter and works great.

BTW, for those not computer saavy, PS/2 does not equal PlayStation 2; PS/2 Wiki if you're curious.

Yeah, any keyboard should work. I had used a Sharkboard from the creators of GameShark. Irony is I'm so opossed to GameShark, I almost didn't buy it but it was the only damn USB Keyboard I could find in my area at the time. It's a flimsy thing that I'm sure I could break it pretty easily, but it works great and I'm not an oaf so I don't have to worry about breaking it.

Yeah, any keyboard will work. If you've ever taken one apart you'd know there isn't much to them. All they are really is a circuit board full of broken circuts that you complete by simply pressing down on the keyboard. In the process of doing that the keyboard sends that code sequence to the computer and it translate what key you just pressed. So the standard like 105 keys on just about every keyboard will work no matter what. The ones like the Start Menu button or other specials just become unknown and ignored when plugged into the PS2.

lol! My friend uses one of those and it sucked. XD I remember he used it for about 2 weeks where it worked perfectly, and then all of the sudden you couldn't press 2 keys at once. >_> So one day he tries to throw it on his computer and can't do macros, can't run diagonally...it was funny, but sucked, lol. (Totally off-topic, but you reminded me of it >_>)

Yeah, mine has something sort of like that issue. Mostly that I can't run and change targets going backwards at the same time, and when that happens is very sparatic and how it happens that I never identified it as being the keyboard. I've never bothered tring to run diagonally, but also how sparatic the error is I had written it off as an unnoticed bug with the game.

I had written it off as a bug since there are similar kind of bugs you can run into with certain zones. In one zone a door I had touched caused the wierdest thing my map became unaccessable, I couldn't target mobs, and zone lines seemed to get messed up. It all restored to normal again after quitting the game and logging in again.

                        Re: Another ps2 Question ^^

I'm using this Wireless Keyboard. The old one I had died on me one night, so I ran to Target and spent $40 for it I think. It's served me quite well, though at times it doesn't seem to like how fast I type. (It will repeat a key stroke 10 times or so at random, but it's not a constant issue.)

The mouse it came with isn't bad, but I use that on another PC, not the PS2. I've considered testing it, but playing with the mouse seems silly when I already have a keyboard and controller in my lap. ^^

Previously had a Kensington keyboard that worked well. I bought it back when I was beta testing the NA Network Adapter for PS2. Worked fine with any game that could use a Keyboard.

Just a word of warning with the regular keyboard -> USB adapter thing.

I tried that at first and for some reason it would like to act like the key was stuck down even though it wasn't. So I'd be typing along anddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

I'd have to unplug the keyboard and plug it back in to get it to work. It would happen every time I played. I ended up buying a straight USB keyboard for like $10.

The adapter was from Radio Shack, if that matters.

PC now, so it's all good.

I use an Apple keyboard I got with one of my Macintoshes, a Sony PS2 keyboard from the PS2 Linux Kit, or my Japanese enterbrain keyboard. There is no restriction on what USB keyboard you can use.
