    Re: trouble updating?

    Hi all,

Im new to FFXI but im having the same problem as described in this thread.

I have an Xbox 360 a brand new copy of FFXI, here is my issue:

I installed the POL software, registered then installed the game to the Xbox 360 HDD. The POL viewer updated itself fine then FFXI needed to be updated before I played the game. Its this update that has stuck at 46% on a file called 98.DAT since I bought the game last week.

I also can connect no problem to Xbox live & recieve messages via POL. The Xbox shows my NAT status as 'Open'

My router has all the ports forwarded that FFXI requires and I have uninstalled & reinstalled the game.

If anyone has also had this problem and resolved it I would love to hear from you as right now I cant get started with FFXI at all.

    Thanks.

      Re: trouble updating?

Mine has done this sorta thing for every update. My solution was pretty silly.. But im a PUP now.. so obviously everything installed/updated fine.

When it stalls. wait a few mins ( to make sure its actually stuck ), then hit cancel(or whataver). It should ask you to confirm if you wish to cancel... then cancel the.. er cancel.

And it resumes Install/DL on the next file or %.

Maybe my PC is fuct.. but this work for me both off CD and for DL updates.

        Re: trouble updating?

        Cheers for replying cakemeat,

Well finally got the update done at stupid oclock in the morning!! I didnt change any settings. Just kept rebooting the router and re-trying.

After 3 POL-0205 errors in a row it just worked!! Im pleased but cant really throw any light on what the trouble was.

So if anyone else gets this problem my advice is make sure your router ports are set correctly or better still use uPNP and just keep trying!

        Cheers.
