strugling to install the game....

when im instaling i get to 100% click finish then it says " useDDL Failed, couldnt load ENCRYPT.DDL file "

anyone got any ideas ?? thanks

According to this link it sounds like you need to update Windows.

nice one ... this sounds like the problem im having.... but this crates another problem,

i cant update windows as im not running a genuine copy >.<, how long is it till the new windows is out ??

You don't need a genuine copy of Windows to get updates. If Automatic Update does not work, go download the files from microsoft.com and install them manually.

I'm not using genuine copy of windows either. When I go to Microsoft download site, it gave me this "genuine test" or something.... For some reason, this "test" thing just ran through without telling me anything. Then the Microsoft website let me download everything afterwards.... No idea why but I was able to get every updates since.

i tried the same thing but it didnt let me thru... think it must be sumert to do with if the disk uv copied off is registered or not ... i dunno, curently d/lin random files that sound rite till ff works lol

Why are so many people pirating a copy of Windows? I mean I understand Microsoft Office, but Windows... it's your damn operating system. It's not that expensive if you can afford to play Final Fantasy, you can set aside enough money to buy a operating system. If not, go to Linux, Red Hat, whatever free OS you can and NOT play FFXI. Sorry.

bahh gettin nothin but problems tryin 2 update windows ... migh have to buy windows, and start from fresh, my pc's prety messed up atm, thanks anyway guys =o)

I'll use copy-right software once I have a job. But not now. (been using pirated windows since 3.11 ._. )

could anyone please tell me whats the diferance in windows xp pro and windows xp pro 64 as theres only like £4 dif in price ??

Windows XP Pro is the standard 32bit version of windows, and will run on 32 and 64 bit CPU's. This is the version of Windows you want to run FFXI on.

Windows XP Pro 64 is exactly as above, except it's been ported to run in 64bit mode on CPU's that have the 64bit extensions. You most certainly don't want this one. I can't say for sure, but I don't think Square-Enix has tested FFXI on WXP64. Likewise the 64bit version of Windows is a bit dodgey.
