  • Macbook playability?

Im very interested in FFXI, havnt played it yet. I do have a macbook on its way here and was wondering, since I can boot up windows on it, could I also be able to play FFXI? My macbook will have:
    2.0GHz Intel Core Duo
    1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM- 2x512
    100GB Serial ATA drive

so if it could play would it be acceptional as it is? Im sorry if this is a waste, but Im sorta new to online and pc gaming, till now Ive only been interested in console gaming, no online with it either.

    Re: Macbook playability?

Is it MacBook or MacBook Pro?

Pro comes w/ Mobility RADEON X1600, so combined w/ other specs you shouldn't have a problem playing ffxi on it w/ higher graphics configurations. But if it was non-Pro, it only comes w/ Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics, and in that case you might gonna have to play around w/ configurations a bit to find the right combinations, thereby balancing the graphics quality and lags caused by pushing the performance.

Nevertheless, ffxi runs just fine on either MacBooks. And don't forget to grab a USB gamepad or USB-PSX adaptor if you're not familiar w/ playing games w/ a keyboard.

I'm pretty sure that will be enough, I personally have not tried running ffxi on macbook pro yet.

Try installing DirectX 9.0c and see how all the details come out.

      Also here's a program that emulates Hardware TnL: http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/loc...ks.php?catid=5 , 3d-analyzer.

Something that might help you before u actually buy the game is:
      bench mark program - http://dl.square-enix.co.jp/taru/FFXiB3Setup.exe
