Help my graphics suck!

Well I am so dissapointed in Final Fantasy 11, I Have the most up to date PC on the Market, meaning I have a 7900GT, all the bits and bobs ect.
Yet in Game My characters are all blurry, The backgrounds are blurry, The items are pixeled and jaggeged ect.
I have set everything on Max in game yet there is no actuall option to change resolution in game ( Great job Square.. )
Can anyone tell me how I can make the models smooth and high quality like in the screenshots?

You oughta go to FFXI Config and change the settings.

Dont forget however, FFXI is old, dont expect something you see on recent games, tho FFXI still kicks them in the nuts anyway :3

Start > Program Files > PlayOnline > Final Fantasy XI > Final Fantasy XI Config

Enable MIP Mapping ON

Overlay Graphics Resolution: Set as high as you dare

Set Texture Compression to Uncompressed
Set On-screen Maps to Uncompressed

Set Enable bump mapping ON

Environmental Animation to Smooth.

And follow the link given above to set your background resolution higher than 1024x1024.

Hi Zaul

The configuration tool to change in game graphics setting is not inside FFXI its in a small application called FFXI Config.

It can be found under Start -> Programs -> Playonline -> FFXI -> FFXI Config if memory servers me correctly. You can change resolution there, background resolution, bump mapping and various other parameters.

Like others said, dont forget this game is quite old already (at least 4 years, maybe more) so use this to curb your expectations for graphical wizardy and effects. After the registery changes however in terms of pure resolution its still up there with the most resent MMORPGs anyway.

Finally its been said many times and its still true, Good Graphics Dont Make A Good Game, FFXI is still (arguably) the best MMORPG out there.

Also, you could have just gotton the 360 version which has the tweaks already applied, but if you have the PC version, then Balfree's advice is the best to help you out.
