Re: FFXI on MacBook PRo with Bootcamp?

    To OP:

Works great on macbook pro. I have 20 gig for windows that runs HL2, Doom3 and FFXI in case I want to game on the go. The MBP's videocard is under clocked, so it isn't running at it's full potential but it runs more than playable. As someone else said make sure you chnage the "background aspect ration" hidden in the config menu to 16:10 so your character isn't stretched.

I beat Ouryu last weekend on my laptop, as well as a 5 hour exp party (while I was hanging out with 2 fellow FFXI players) and my MBP looked better than Rakanishu's xbox360 and Velner's Dell PC setup....

Any other questions? Send me a PM or AIM message =)

Very much like Wine there is Cider but Cider will have to be used by the game developer to wrap their game inside Cider.

Ok, I thought I'd post something to this thread to update everyone so far on this subject.

For starters, FFXI still doesn't work under WINE properly. I'd say give it another year. WoW runs under Wine just fine, go figure.

FFXI under Windows XP on a Macbook Pro using BootCamp runs just great. No problems there.

The next major release of Parallels and VMware virtual machines for Intel Macs will have 3D accelleration support. When the new Parallels arrives with this feature I'll post some tests with FFXI and other games to let you know how it went.
