  • FFXI on PS2, what do I need to buy ?

    Greetings,

    I plan to buy Final Fantasy XI for playstation and I would like to know what will I need in order to play it ? I heard I need a hard drive and an internet connection. I do have the internet connection and as for the hard drive, I found a bundle wich include a 40 gb hard drive. However, the person said I need a PS2 Network Adapter Required for Installation and Use, is it already in the PS2 ?

    Thank you for your time, if you've any more informations I would appreciate it if you can share it.

    First, you need the old, large PS2. The hard drives don't work with the new slim ones.

    Yes, you will need a PS2 network adapter, and no, it's not included. It's not just a network adapter, you see, it's also got the hard drive connection built into it. You can't hook up the HDD without one.

    Other than those, you'll need the software if it's not included in the bundle (good luck finding the expansions), and a USB keyboard.

    There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

        Well a UISB key board wont be hard to find...... but the FF11 Sopftware will be a fun thing to find ..... Good luck { For PS2 the comp software is an easy find at your local best buy }

          I am currently a PS2 user and I must say its pretty expensive.

          $110 for FFXI and the HDD
          $40 is expansions
          $30 for the network adapter
          $20 for USB keyboard

          Thats about 200 dollars I poured into this game, not including content ID fees. Much better to go with XBOX 360 or PC. With PC all you need is the game and expansions, pretty much, then your set! GL with getting all your FFXI goods, hope to see you ingame soon!

            It depends which PS2 model you have. I bought my PS2 right before the slim model came out, and it had many of the gadgets normally sold seperately built in (this includes the network adapter).

            But frankly, I'm with Olau. You're money is better spent on a 360 or PC.

              Thank you for your replies, I must say I like the atmosphere of this forum, nice people.

              For now, I think I'll begin with the pc version, the problem is that my wife might want to play later on, then the ps2 would be an option for one of us in order to play together. I took a look at different stores, and the prices you listed is right, it is quite expansive especially that I've an old ps2 model.

              Thanks again,
