  • OK I got an installation question(Please help)

OK for the life of me I couldnt find a Chains or Promithia exspansion back at any store. So i Bought the VanVadeil collection one with all exspansions in it(except treasures I bought that separately).

I have Chains already on my PC but my wife doesnt so the collection was bought for her.My question is can I just install chains onto her PC from the Collections DVD or do I have to reinstall the whole game again?

And another questions,We left for WoW for abit and now we have returned our characters are still there that we had. Will she be able to keep her characters with a new game install(if thats what I have to do)? The characters are saved in your POL ID correct not the cd-key for your game right?

Thx for any and all info.Im glad im back into the world of Final Fantasy

Do you still have the CoP disc you used to install it on your PC? If so, you could just use that to install it on your wife's PC, then register with the codes from the collection. I don't know if the collection lets you install CoP separately or not. My guess would be no, but there's almost certainly something about that in the install itself. I mean, if it doesn't have an "Install CoP" option and is just "Install," I don't see what else there would be.

Yes, the characters are saved with the POL ID. An install (as long as it's all in the same region) is an install is an install.

I believe that the collection CD is a unified installer, I don't think you can install them seperately from the menu, but there may be a seperate installation executable if you look on the DVD.

if you pop the collections DVD in and start the installer, it should pick up that FFXI and RoZ is already installed. you should be able to just click "Install Chains of Promathia" from the menu.

        Thanks Yyg!

I have the collection CD, it lets you choose which ones you want to install. You can install CoP without any mess with the others.

Re: OK I got an installation question(Please help)

Your account = Registration numbers (POL Content ID)
Your character = FFXI Content ID

The character is stored on SE's servers and is independent of the software you install. (In fact, I play alternately on PC and PS2 with the same character.) The base software and expansions all require their own registration numbers, but once they're entered for one of your characters they're valid for *all* characters on the same account.

You should be able to install CoP separately for your wife. Enter the CoP registration number that comes with the new software.

If you're returning to old characters, make sure you use the ORIGINAL registration numbers to reactivate them (not exactly sure how SE is handling the "Return to Vana'diel" campaign) even if you install from new software.

            I hope that helps.
