    I forget what R1 does on the PS2 controller...

    I managed to get FFXI (although I only have the Zilart expansion) working on my laptop, and I have a pc controller that has the exact same layout as a PS2 controller.

    Now considering I've been playing on PS2 for so long now, including just last night, it's kind of weird that I can't remember what the hell R1 does.

    Problem is this controller sucks really bad anyway, it feels like it's just a kid's toy that you buy to trick the kid into thinking they're playing a game at an arcade or something. But at least it's something.

    Also, if it's not too much to ask, does anyone know how to figure out your screen ratio? I mean I know I got a widescreen monitor, but then under config it throws all these ratios at you and since I probably can't run the game in anything but the lowest resolution, at least adjusting the ratio would get me more view. That's important because I'm level 17, almost 18 and the last thing I need is some stupid goblin to come out of nowhere in Valkrum and kill me.

    R1 = Autorun

    Though you can make it do whatever you like under the Config and Gamepad Settings.

    Are you talking about the Background Aspect Ratio? That would be under the in game Config >>> Misc. 2 >> Background Aspect Ratio. I use a widescreen monitor and it is set to 16:9. Otherwise your characters are going to look smooshed!

      FFXI uses wierd terms

      Interface resolution = the actual resolution the game runs at.
      Background resolution = encompasses a few things, ultimately this is basically your texture resolution.

      If you're gonna run on a monitor 20+ inches, I'd recommend upping your backgound res to 2048x2048 by editing it in your system registry, or else things will probably look a bit blurry

        no auto run is L1. R1 is the virtual keyboard.

          I thought L1 was auto run? What does L1 do then? I want to keep it the same so I don't get all confused when I switch back and forth. (guess that's kind of pointless now since I already forgot)

          Atma, aspect ratio, not resolution. Plus if I put the resolution up to 2048x2048, my laptop would probably melt, then melt through the table, then melt into the earth. Thanks anyway though. :D

          So I could just set R1 to something else now, since I obviously won't be needing that.

            Well if the push of a single R1 button could set up entire hacking programs, it would indeed be pretty frickin' sweet. I'm still trying to figure out what I can do with mine, though.

              for PC I'm using R1 to hide menu. Pretty handy when looking at maps.

                L1 Autorun.

                R1 I have set to Num0 or Tab; I forget which, but it amounts to the same thing. Since the given utility for joystick configuration limits remapping quite a bit, I got a small application to allow for full remapping.

                  R1 can be whatever you like it to be on the PC and R1 for me is autorun. Thats why I told him to go under Config and Gamepad Settings. You don't have to set it up the same as the PS2, you can tweak it to be whatever you choose it to be.

                    Well thanks for the input guys, sorry for the late reply. However if you'll direct your attention to http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/fre...rt.issues.html , I got a 360 controller instead. Now it's giving me problems. >.<
