  • Replace.

I have POL-1153 error and on doing a file check i found that .dat files between 40 and 60 are corrupted.

Is there a way i could replace these files with "good" files?

I've literally be online with tech support ALL DAY and their 'brilliant' solution was to reinstall.

Well, I dont think I should have to reinstall because of their error.

I've upgraded my drivers and it's not that. I've had no changes done to my hard drive or my software. I have more than enough GB free on both of my drives.

This is the first time I've ever had even a thought of an error with this, and it's like it came suddenly for no freaking reason at all!!!

I did a file check but wouldn't repair them (HDD something error) of course.

so this is where i am. please help?

    Re: Replace.

    Moved to Game Setup etc...

I'm by no means a computer expert, but if you did want to try just replacing those two files, maybe put in each of the install disks and search for the .dat names that are corrupted. Then just drag over and overwrite them.

      Re: Replace.

or just ask for those files on the forum... which files are they? (give the full file name so they know what files need to be sent.

        Re: Replace.

Or... just reinstall. Sadly, it is a failing of windows, and especially bad PS2 ports to windows... that stuff just breaks. My girlfriend got flagged for speed hacking because the game screwed up - know what fixed it? Reinstalling FFXI.

Hate to say it, but its honestly your best option.

Especially considering that replacing the files from CD is no good; they won't be patched.

            Re: Replace.

I tried replacing them with ROM/55/ 40-60.dat files

didn't work. I don't even know which ones they are, just the number.dat names

I know, I want to save reinstalling for the last option because this is such a freak occurance that I'm in denial that it's in any way my computer's fault.

            's like it randomly exploded or something -.-;;

              Re: Replace.

Unfortunately, unless you get somebody nice enough to upload a zipped file containing every dat named 40.dat through 60.dat in every folder...your best option is to reinstall. I'd upload mine, but it'd take too long with dial-up....and it'd probably just be faster for everyone do just reinstall the game. >_>a

                  Re: Replace.

If you don't know the source of the file, then it will have to be every file named 40.dat or 41.dat etc. And there are a lot of them.

If you do know the source (C:\blahblahblahblahblah\ROM\51\##.dat - for example) then it becomes much more reasonable.

                    Re: Replace.

                    Yep I do.

                    It's teh folder/ROM/55/40.dat ~60.dat

And I've checked that folder and there is not any .dat files in there. boo.
