XBox Log-in problem

Okay. So somehow my XBox 360 ID I've been using for POL and FFXI has been "Corrupted" and deleted. It ran out anyway, membership was up and the credit card wasn't paid off.

So whatever. I made an XBox Live Silver account so I could still play.

Trouble is now I can't seem to get onto POL because I don't know how to unlink my POL ID from my old gamer tag and put it onto my NEW silver tag... can anyone help? This is really, really frustrating.

I ended up calling XBox 360 tech support. They told me I had to recover my Gamertag. I noticed, it says once you link it to an ID you can't undo it ever or else the wrath of god should ensue.. Or something along those lines.

So I ended up getting it back, although I had to go to passport.net or something and have them reset my password, because me like a dope forgot -_-;

Got it back, was extremely frustrated for about 2 hours, and cursed microsoft to the depths of Halvung for this moronic notion of "You must link your POL ID to an XBox Live Gamertag." I wish someone would explain this to me, other than its some 'brilliant' marketing trick..

As far as I know, you aren't REQUIRED to link the game to your gamertag, but it pesters you if you haven't. Linking it just gives benefits from Live, such as your friends being able to see what you are playing when you are logged in, and some of your FFXI info becoming visible to people that view your tag. MS just wants people to be using the tags for everything, since they're a central feature of modern Live.
