Reinstall FFXI again?

Ok, i don't know if this has been covered on another thread, if it was i'm very sorry

Thing is: i got a new motherboard and a new processor for my computer, as we know, the current installation i have of WinXP is not going to work once i change the hardware (lame but oh well...) so can anyone tell me what can i do so i don't have to download all the upgrades and patches once i reinstall FFXI again.

Someone said to me that i only need to backup my FFXI folder and then copy/paste it again once i have reinstalled FFXI, is this going to work? or do i need to do something else?

Yeah, just burn your FFXI folder to a DVD or something, and then move it right back to where it should be once you reinstall. As for POL Viewer, I think you're supposed to reinstall it on the new system as opposed to just copying over its folder.

I've copied my FFXI folders to an external HDD and used it to set up my account on 4 different computers now, only having to do the basic install, copy the folder over, and then have the update check that all my files are the proper version to have the game fully functional. The install is only needed to set up the hundreds of registry entries that FFXI requires to operate properly.

I've done the same, move the FFXI folder to some place big enough to store it... reinstall Windows, then reinstall FFXI. Copy the old folder over the new.

That should also save your map points and your macros too. That is a nice side effect.

But... i just found out that the memory simms i have now are incompatible with the new motherboard

So i now have to wait till i get some new DDR memory simms
