I remember this game ran fine in most areas (cept like jeuno or dynamis) and i came back and notice how bard songs and spells would kill the frame rate totally. I'm running Geforce 6800GT with P4 3.0GHz and on my laptop which has a Geforce 7800Go and Core Duo 2.0GHz. They run even FEAR and Q4 fine. Is there something i can do to help with bard songs?

you can turn the effect off. with ingame config.
Im using geforce 6600. music effects alone doesn't slow me down noticeably however. Snow storm tho, will.There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

Its the drivers...You needa use olllddddd ass drivers if you wanna play with no slow down or anything(like drivers in the 60s), but if you use the 80+ drivers you get fog issues where stuff int he distance doesnt fog out but stuff 10 feet infront of you does...
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_78.01.html those are the ones I use, though they get the lag for some bard songs and firega3 their the last drivers that dont fuck anything up like the fog...

6800 series must use the old drivers. You can look it up in playonline.com -> getting started-> pc requirements.
It was messed up in the march update, and SE is aware of it, blah blah, trying to fix etc.Comment

if you are running windower it will do that with BRD songs, I had the same problem and I stopped useing Windower, and it works fine now-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I forget which version I'm using right now, but it's the drivers released like in March of this year I believe. I have a 6800 GS, and I get the slowdown with every single bard song and fire spell, and I don't use a windower. It's the most frustrating thing, as I don't want to turn off all effects just because of this one screwup. I really hope they fix it soon.
I haven't tried older drivers, as that will mess with the other game I play frequently, BF2.Comment
