PS2 HDD Instalation disk

i bought a used hard drive for the PS2 and started to install it on the ps2. it came with to disks (the game disk and the play online disk) i was getting an error on the installation and i was told by a sony tech support that i would need to loacte a hdd installation disk. does anyone kno if there is a way around this or a way i can get ahold of this disk. i live in a very small town and i dont kno neone else in town that has the game. thanks

i did some more research on the formatting. the actual error message that i am getting is POL-1562 CNAS Error 404. i dont kno if this helps at all but i put it ther anyway.

i kno there are third party programs that can format the hdd, but from what i understand, they do not allow it to play FFIX. I was wondering if any ps2 users who still hav their HDD Utilty Disk v1.01 could copy the files on it over to your computer and send them to me so i can burn them onto a disk and use that to format it?

one more question....i was reading through the instruction manual for the game, and it said that you CANNOT make a new POL account after 3 months on your original software. Since i bought this used, is it going to be possible for me to set up my POL account?

I can't help you with your HDD problem, but I can tell you that the packaging says "not for resale" for a reason.

You cannot create a PlayOnline account with a used product, ever. The person who sold you that HDD/FFXI should have had the sense to give you both the HDD Utility Disc and the account numbers for PlayOnline and Final Fantasy XI.

Every copy of FFXI, including the FFXI/HDD combo for PS2, comes with registration keys. Those registration keys are required in setting up an account which can only be acquired from buying that product. By purchasing the game used, you cannot create an account at all. The warning you read is about cancelling a POL account. If you cancel your existing PlayOnline account, you have three months to revive it or it's deleted forever.

My recommendation would be to either locate a friend who may have purchased the game on multiple platforms and has a extra registration keys, or purchase The Vana'diel Collection DVD package for $20-30, and use the registration keys included with that to create your account and play on PS2.

soonerz32, I'm really sorry for what happened but please not here. Problem is boardering to close to requests to closely considered illegal here. We don't need the whole warez and pirating stuff starting here again.
