error 1311, someone, help!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! help me!! im having a problem installing the game, i get to a sertain point in the installation, and it says,

error 1311. source file not found:n:\inst1\data11.cab. verify that the file still exists and that you can access it.

thats what it says, and it gives me these options:

Abort, Retry, ignore

Ive tried all 3, and if i click retry, it just brings up the same error message, if i click ignore, it brings up some OTHER error message that says internal error, and abort backs out of the installer(duh!). SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME, THIS MAKES NO FRIGGIN SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CD/DVD drive is bad maybe?
disk is bad maybe?
your computer is so full of viruses nothing works?

i dont know, i have World of Warcraft installed, cuz i used to play it before i got bored with it, and it works fine

please help, im not smart enuff to figure it out, oh, and i use my virus cleaner stuff daily so i get rid of most the virus's i get, small or not. also, my computer works pretty well, and my disk drive loads any other game i have.

then it could be number 2. call pol support and see what they can do or take it back to the store for a replacement.

oh, and also, it downloaded all the other stuff like, the playonline thing, and the tetramaster(whatevr that is) and the directx8.6 or whatever its called(sorry, not to smart about that stuff) and then it gets part of the game installed before the error occurs...

hey, good news, i think i may have figured it out. ok, here goes...

i have windows me, and the game requires 2000 or XP, so that means i have to upgrade, right, thats the problem, RIGHT??!! PPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEE
tell me thats the problem, but dont lie, lol...

I would assume you need to upgrade to XP. FFXI cannot be played on ME.

screw that, do you know how much upgrading is, its un-friggin believable!! im just gonna get the harddrive and game for my ps2, hope it looks as good, and call it a day,I know someone who has both and is done with the game and will give me that harddrive and game and stuff for cheap, screw windows, its to hard and to much money.

you have to pay $12.95/month to play Final Fantasy XI. you know, like it says in the manual...

Final Fantasy XI is playable on Windows ME. The problem comes from your copy of the game.

One solution to fixing your issue is to make a folder on your desktop (name it whatever you want), and copy and paste all the files from each CD into that folder. Then just run the install.exe (I'm not sure if that's the real name of the installer exe program) and the game should install fine.

If that doesn't fix your problem, you need to call POL tech-support. They will give you an address to mail your CDs to, and they will send you brand new ones that WILL work.

And for those of you saying, "It won't work on Windows ME." Please, give technical advice on the required settings AFTER you look at the minimum requirements on the box.

Yeah, FFXI should be playable on Windows ME. Windows ME is technically a modified version of Windows 2000, both 2000 and ME were AWFUL creations. When 2000 first came out it couldn't even run Office 2000 correctly yet 98 could no problem. ME inherited many of the same problems that 2000 had, if you didn't keep the system updated you're likely to run into more problems with certain programs.

Your error though sounds more like it's an issue with the CD/DVD drive or the CDs themselves or something with your Installer. You can always try browsing the CD and see if you can open that CAB file it keeps saying is bad, if you can get it open there it might be an issue with the installer. If you get the error there then you might want to try those CDs on a different CD/DVD drive and see if they read, if they read on a different one then it's likely your drive that can't handle them.

i did, it doesnt say ME on it, just 2000 and windows, according to someone i know, those arent the same, just came out around the same time, and i know its 12.95, never said it wasnt, i just meant the upgrade to windows xp.
