To avoid the trouble of figuring out how to set my registry, graphics card, game settings, or whatever else. I took the time to find something that would do it all for me! It's called the ffxi element enhancement tool made by tsunami creations.
I have no affiliations with this company and/or don't claim to be an expert on the specific topic but I just wanted to suggest maybe trying it! It has changed my graphics and performance to a state that is suitable for game playing. When I stop using the tool (ie; uninstalling it) I can't stand playing the game.
