  • Would the game work on this system?

This is NOT the orginal post. This is an edited version. I'll be buying upgrades with the comp.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate for how well the game will run on my comp?

    Specifications are as follows:

    2.4ghz processor
    768mb ram
    256mb Ati Radeon 9800

Anyone know how well it'll run? What do you think the best graphics settings i could use without lag are?

Also, i installed the game on my laptop, but will be installing it on my desktop and uninstalling it from my laptop. Can i just log in straight away and it'll be my account, with the content id's that i bought etc? Or do i have to do something else?

thanks for any help *post will be replicated at bottom incase people think the below replies are for this*

Well, I'm gonna start by saying.. Yeah it'll run FFXI fine. Your frame rate might be a little bit choppy. I know becuase that's been my machine pretty much for the past 2 years. If you're buying it new, maybe you should think about a better machine.. But I understand if funds are your problem.

I just got a new computer and it runs FFXI with like an almost capped framrate, 28-29 FPS all the time @.@, it's got an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Processor though, and a Radeon x800 XL (PCI Express).

You might want to look into a better video card as well, like a 256 mb model. /shrug

EDIT: Oh I wanted to add, you should also look at expanding your ram a bit if you get that computer.

As long as it runs it ok. I am only 15 years old, and funds ARE a problem really. I have a paper round, and have an income of about 55 pounds a month. I will save up and upgrade the computer steadily. Any idea of an estimated frame rate, or maybe an estimated score on the Benchmark test?

Hmm, I don't know about the Benchmark score but your framerate I think will be at about 18-29 FPS, in areas like jeuno you'll get intense lag usually regardless because so many people are being loaded. Same if you're doing god runs later in game or something like that. You should be fine, as long as you can deal with it. I mean, I still use my old computer so I don't consider it obsolete now or anything. Hope you have fun in FFXI
