My PC specs will be as follows:


AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
evga 7800GT 256 MB
2 gigabytes of ram


I'll be getting the ram next week and then I'll be able to run my PC. Question is, will I be able to handle the game at a resolution of 1600x1200 with a texture background resolution of 2048x2048?

No worries. Any computer made within the last year- year and a half should easily able to run FFXI with great results. Any processor 2.5+, vid card 128+ and memory 1gig + should be smooth sailing (generally, exceptions are there Im sure.) Oh and dont worry about the "guide"- inside joke.

I have an older system....maybe 2000. I had to upgrade the Vid Card before I was able to play FFXI, but before that, to get around spending $70-$130, I found a way to emulate a Vid Card....trick your system and FFXI into thinking that you had the right Card.

The outcome: It worked fine until I approached an AH, then it froze. The PC couldnt hand that many PPL on screen without the proper specs.
