Frequent connection dropout problem - any ideas ?

Hullo !

I am having issues keeping a steady connection. I searched the forum, but could not find any information on factors that would determine how often the game lags or drops out. This has caused at least 3 deaths (of mine) and is starting to get very annoying.

My setup is : Windows XP SP2, fully patched, running on a gBox 2.4 Ghz Celeron 512 MB RAM 120 GB HD w/ATI Radeon 9550 SE; NIC is Realtek 10/100 onboard Ethernet hardwired to Belkin wireless b router, connected to a broadband cable connection. Internet connectivity has been steady and unaffected.

Are there settings inside POL or my router (or Windows) that I can change/adjust to get better network performance - or at the very least, less lag ?

Nevermind - opened up some ports on the router, and performance greatly improved. Never would have thought those settings would matter, since I was able to connect to the game..... oh well.
