Not using an AV and surfing the net is like going to a doctor that uses the same needle on all of his/her patients. There's really no reason not to have one. You can shut it off or disable it while you play certain games, but generally you should have it enabled at all times. It may even be the reason you're having trouble...

Please... Do it for us... ^^

I finally found out the problem to the whole thing... its service pack 2.

I formatted and installed POL and FFXI, it seemed to recognize it fine. But then when I got disocnnected from the FFXI update, I thought, yeah I should install SP2 anyways, so I did it, and after the restart, POL couldn't find FFXI anymore.

So what I done was uninstall SP2, and then it worked O_o

one of the wierdest problems ever.

Although that opens to more problems :D
- the SP2 I have is kind of 'beta'
- If I upgrade from the SP2 beta through auto-updated, my comp crashes everytime it boots up forcing me to format or reinstall the whole windows again

Uhhh... It shouldn't be SP2. Plenty of ppl use SP2 with ffxi with no problems...

my father's comp has SP2 and it installed properly

The thing is I installed POL and FFXI before I installed SP2 on my comp. It couldn't detec itself after the SP2 install (which isn't updated because as I said it totally screws my comp if i update). But after I uninstall SP2 POL successfully detects FFXI... very wierd stuff. It'll take a german geneticist to figure out the true nature of the problem...
