FFXI Installation Help

    FFXI Installation Help

    Ok, after I install POL, and head to the 1st FFXI installation CD, I am getting this error at about 23%, any help would be appreciated. The error is:

    Error 1305 Error Reading from file C:\Program Files\Playonline\Square Enix\Final Fantasy XI\sound\win\se\se008\se008241.spw. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

    Help please!

    Sounds like it could possibly be a scratched disk...don't really know how to help you with this other than to perhaps borrow a friend's disk to install it. It doesn't matter what disk you use to install as long as you have your own CD Key. Let me know if this helps or not, it could be something wrong with your computer but I highly doubt it.

      Possibly, but when I installed it for the first time last night, it worked perfectly, but I unistalled because the CoP disk was doing the same thing >_<

        Well if it worked right the first time, and now it doesn't, it definitely sounds like it could be a scratch on the disk =\ Do you have anyone you can borrow a clean set of disks from and try again?

          Try reinstalling it all over. I got some error like that once, and I just restarted the installation. After that, it didn't give me an error anymore. (The installation takes forever though...)

            i have been thru this before. there are 2 things that can help. 1 is change cd drive. my 1st time with an installation problem, i changed drives and got it to install. the other option is fresh install of operatng system. its also possible you are overclocking your ps in bios ,which also over clocks components and this can cause some problems as well. dont give up just try some different things.

                  i had the same problem what i did is this...
                  go to download.com, and search for programs that restores corrupted files and i found this badcopyprov3.76, after downloading it. buy it find a crack. whatever suites you.

                  put the CD in the drive and follow the instructions. pick up the file that it hangs while reading it. it might be a ZIPed file that containes all the files and the setup wizard will unpack the whole thing, anyways after you do manage to get the recovered file copy the whole CD except the damaged one to your harddrive after that make a CD and throw in the files you copied + the recoverd one. make a CD and install again. works like magic.

                    First time i ever installed i got this problem... But it was because i had the 2nd cd in drive 2 while the CD1 was in drive 1.. kinda confusing, but it wouldnt work until i pulled it out and restarted the installation.
